Payment links are a convenient and efficient way to receive payments from customers. They are URLs that you can share with your customers via email, SMS, or any other messaging app. You can also place them on your website if you have the unlimited feature enabled. When a customer clicks on the payment link, they are taken to a payment page where they can enter their payment information and complete the transaction.
Different types of links
When creating a payment link you need to select the type of link you want to create. Here you can read more about each type of link we offer:
One-time payment
This is the simplest variant of the payment links. With this link you can let the customer pay a certain amount and is just a one-time payment.
Subscription (Basic)
With this link you can let the customer pay a first amount where the customer needs to accept to start a subscription for recurring payments. With the basic subscriptions you can enter one amount that needs to be charged for example every month.
In case you have a paid RCUR plan, we always advise to use the Advanced Subscriptions for more options.
Subscription (Advanced)
With this type of link, you can setup an advanced subscription with one or multiple rules to charge the customer. The customer will see all subscription rules during checkout and has to accept to start the subscription.
This type is available in the advanced plan and above
Orders
In case you want to let your customer choose certain products/services to checkout, then you can use our orders feature. By using this type of link, the customer can select 1 or more products to checkout and has to enter their personal and address details. Recurring products in orders are also possible.
Orders are available in the expert and professional plans
Mandate
Sometimes you don't want to start a subscription immediately after the first payment. In that case you can use the "mandate" type for your payment link. After the payment of the customer via this link, the IBAN or card number is stored at Mollie for this customer. Now you can start a subscription manually via our dashboard, or just create a one-time payment for this customer if needed.
One-off Direct Debit
With all other types, the first payment is never a SEPA Direct Debit payment. For this type, you can let the customer fill in their IBAN and a one-time payment via SEPA Direct Debit is initiated.
This type is available in the advanced plan and above
